Hello all!

I am very excited to be Competition Chair this year and can’t wait to share all of our hard work with you! This year, Star of the North is returning as the classic, welcoming event that introduced hundreds of us to the fun of competitive dancing. The event also features a few special tweaks to make it even friendlier and to give even more options to every participant.

Here are just a few highlights:

• New single-entry dance rates allow competitors to try just one or two dances – great for beginning competitors and new partnerships.
• Mixed Proficiency is a great opportunity for both advanced and beginning dancers. Advanced dancers can share their expertise and skill with a new generation for no cost and beginning dancers can be introduced to the joy of competition by experienced competitors.
• Affordable rates and special Pre-Champ and Championship rates make Star of the North the ideal warm-up for Nationals in April.
• New Adult Team Match categories allow all dancers to share in the team match excitement.
• Star of the North 2009 also hopes to create a place for competitors and dancers from many styles of partner dance. West coast swing, salsa, argentine tango, and other competition rounds will feature special guest judges and DJs from our local dance community.
• Weekend Spectator Passes and Weekend Workshop Passes are available at discounted rates.
